Eucharistic Fast for the Laity as of March 25, 1957

• All must fast from solid food and alcoholic beverages for THREE HOURS before receiving Holy Communion. 

• All must fast from non-alcoholic liquids for one hour before receiving Holy Communion.

• The infirm, even if not bedridden, may take non-alcoholic beverages and that which is really and properly medicine, either in liquid or solid form, without a time limit.
